What is a "bridal party"?
The bridal party is the set of people, who are chosen by the couple to stand by their side during the big day. A traditional bridal party includes at least one maid of honour and best men, as well as a number of bridesmaids and groomsmen. A broader bridal party will include flower girls, ring bearers or page boys, witnesses, ushers and even junior bridesmaids. A general rule of thumb is to try and match the number of people on the groom’s side, to the number on the bride’s side – mainly to achieve symmetry in wedding photos; but this is not necessary, and you should focus on including those who are nearest and dearest to you.
What about less traditional bridal parties?
We believe that the bridal party should consist of the people who are closest to you – regardless of whether they are male or female. We love to work with couples who are proposing to a “Bridesman” or “Man of Honour”. These are the people who will go on the journey with you – so make sure you pick a fun and supportive bunch.
When should we propose?
Although there is no fixed timeframe in which you need to propose to members of the bridal party, we recommend you do so as soon as possible after you get engaged. This way, your besties will get to be involved in more of the wedding planning, and it gives the members time to get to know each other better.
